The quintessential Indian bread. Soft, airy, and perfectly puffed. Using high-quality, finely milled wheat flour ensures your phulkas stay soft for hours.
Ingredients
- 2 cups Devam Ghavu Lot (Wheat Flour)
- 3/4 cup Warm Water (adjust as needed)
- 1/2 tsp Salt (optional)
- Ghee for smearing (optional but recommended)
Instructions
In a wide mixing bowl, add the Devam Ghavu Lot and salt. Mix well.
Slowly add the warm water, mixing with your fingers until the dough starts coming together.
Knead vigorously for 5-7 minutes. The dough should be soft, pliable, and smooth. Cover with a damp cloth and rest for 15 minutes.
Pinch off lemon-sized balls of dough. Roll them into smooth balls.
Dust a ball with dry flour and roll it evenly into a 6-inch circle.
Place on a hot tawa. When small bubbles appear, flip it over and cook for a few seconds.
Using tongs, transfer the roti directly to an open flame. It should puff up instantly into a ball.
Remove from heat, smear with ghee, and serve immediately.
